The Ultra member of the Manzanita family is Manzanita Audio Solutions' answer to the rising production costs of residential, high performance, full range loudspeakers.
Ultra objectives:
"Design a reasonably priced, furniture quality, floor standing, full range Open Baffle speaker system. Retain the simple construction, easy set up, performance qualities of the original Manzanita Open Baffle, and, add a full octave of bass extension".
To achieve the extended bass goal, many hours of engineering effort and critical listening indicated using a unique high Q 15" woofer on wide baffle. Ultra's baffle also incorporates shallow, shaped wings with a supportive plinth base. The result is an elegant, light weight, stylish, yet ridged - resonate free structure. To handle mid and high frequency reproduction, Ultra retains the excellent Vifa 3.5" wide range mid-tweeter used in the current production Manzanita. A custom passive crossover completes the design.
Continuing with the Ultra's simplicity and cost objectives, Ultra's passive crossover uses only 5 high quality, carefully selected components. Components of a quality level rarely seen at the Ultra's price point.
Ultra is very easy to set up and enjoy!! All you need to do is connect your pair of Ultras to any stereo amplifier capable of delivering at least 15 watts RMS per channel into an 8 ohm load. And, Ultra loves tube amplification with an impedance that remains above 8 ohms with shallow phase angles! Place your Ultras in an appropriate room location 36"- 40" from a rear wall and not less than 30" from side walls. Space your Ultras apart by a typical 6' - 12' and you are ready to enjoy life like music reproduction. No multiple amplifiers, sub woofer(s), active crossovers, special contour boxes to purchase or install! No extra speaker wires, cables or power cords required! Easy! Simple!

15" with treated & ribbed paper cone, extended & vented core, high damping factor treated foam surround, steel frame. High Q, Extended range.
Vifa 3.5" composite paper cone, raised spider, Faraday cap, extended & vented core, rigid polymer frame, rubber surround, wide range, very low distortion.
Efficient 5 element with asymmetrical offset slopes, HF frequency shaping and baffle step correction. Carefully selected, high quality components.
Rear braced, 8-10 layer North American Birch, Cherry or Maple void free ply baffle plate with matching hard wood wings & plinth base with adjustable tip toes. Wood components CNC shaped. Several standard and extra cost (optional) finishes are available. Please contact MAS for more information.
